Carrasco International Airport

Project

Carrasco International Airport, designed by Rafael Viñoly, has received important architectural awards, including the Architizer A+ Award in 2013 as “Best Airport” worldwide (jury and audience), recognizing its curved design inspired by Uruguayan dunes, its functionality and its landscape integration, consolidating itself as a modern architectural icon of Uruguay. It is almost 40 meters high, approximately 360 meters long and 130 meters wide, reaching a total area of 45,000 m2. The building received several awards and mentions for its unique beauty: Gold Medal Award of Excellence, Design Awards, Society of American Registered Architects New York, 2013.
